The University of Melbourne is a public university located in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 1853, it is the second oldest university in Australia and the oldest in Victoria. The main campus is located in Parkville, an inner suburb just north of the Melbourne CBD. The university also has several other campuses located across Victoria

..and that’s what Wikipedia says.

But seriously, you would’ve gone there if you wanted that type of information. But on the Melbourne Uni Blog, you’ll find out the student perspective, things that aren’t published in the mainstream forms of media, the things that really happen.

FAQs

What is this site about? Basically, I’m now an ex-student of The University of Melbourne, wanting to give both prospective and current students an idea of what life really is at this educational institution. What’s expressed here is solely my views, so don’t take them too seriously. Sure, there’s the glossy brochures and open days which attempt to paint a positive picture of the university in your mind, so I’ll refrain from regurgitating any of that information in this blog.

Also, there’s only so much there is to talk about University life, I also post about society, culture and numerous other areas too.

What kind of things will you post on here? Basically everything I noticed in university. From course & racial stereotypes, fashion, hang out areas, sub-cultures, a little bit of everything!

Why are you doing this? To give people an understanding of what it’s like being a student at The University of Melbourne. The focus will be on things that aren’t openly available on the internet, the type of information you attain if you actually attend the university. Plus, it’s a bit of fun, but then again, half the kids who attend that university don’t have any sense of humour so I’m expecting a lot of raging!

Do you care what people think of you or your blog? Not at all, I’m approaching this as a bit of fun.

Ohh but I think this blog is offensive. I couldn’t care less.

You are not superb, you are profoundly dull. I started reading this blog hoping it would be funny, and I ended reaffirming my dislike of commoners with keyboards. Thankyou for discouraging me from trying new blogs.

I read this blog hoping for an entertaining read, and while some parts were funny, some parts were disrespectful. You just need to be careful when writing on sensitive topics. Please don’t reply with “oh you shouldn’t read the blog then”. I read the blog because SOME parts are funny, whereas other areas need to be toned down a bit.

  18. Good day! I just found your webpage: Ways To Earn when I was exploring stumbleupon.com. It looks as though someone enjoyed your site so much they decided to bookmark it. I’ll absolutely be coming back here more often.

Meh. As a 50 year old woman who is ok looking, married, professional – you have some good points but you sound, well.. a bit… bitter? You’re right on some points, though – a woman who just sleeps around and acts continually after college just as she did in college is going to have a pretty lonely time of it. I am decent enough looking that I think it does not get in my way, but doesn’t get me jobs, either – sort of as the poet wrote in A Prayer for my Daughter – let her be good enough looking, but not too beautiful. That’s what I’d like for my two daughters, frankly. Anyway… I was looking for images of aging women! that’s how I stumbled on your blog, bec. I just wrote a blog posting about being too old for some clothes in my closet. Dealing with that – trying not to let it bother me and laughing about it, really. It’s pathetic when a 50 year old woman wears clothes too young for her. Amy

In Australia, we’re few and far between.

Little solace will be found upon recognising and internalising the ramifications of these notions. You will be alone, even amongst those you call “friends”.

Think as you like, but act as others.

    Keep up the good work.

  21. Very nice pattern and fantastic articles , very little else we need : D.

  22. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research about this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I’m very glad to see such excellent info being shared freely out there.

  23. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “Dreams are real while they last. Can we say more of life” by Henry Havelock Ellis.
